Youth Pastor Ben Lunsford

Hey, I’m the Youth Pastor here at Avondale.  I, like Pastor Mike, am a PK.  Not only that, I’m proudly a third generation pastor.  I was raised in the Seattle area from age 7 and I am grateful to be serving here in the Northwest.  My wife, Gloria, and I were married in March of 2001. In spring of 2002 I began to feel God calling me back to school to prepare for ministry.  I graduated from Western Baptist College with a Bachelors of Ministry in 2005.  I have been serving here at ABC since November of 2006.

My favorite Bible character other than Jesus is…while there are many for different reasons, I think right now I'd pick Caleb  because…he followed God no matter what the cost and maintained his passion for God throughout his life.

When I order coffee I like a…Tall Double Decaf Mocha

Some bands I really like are…John Reuben, Barlow Girl, Thousand Foot Krutch, Andy Hunter, Family Force 5, The Classic Crime

The most important lesson I learned from my parents was… I don't remember any one specific "lesson" they taught, but what I've instilled in my life that I know is from them, is a love for God and a desire to honor Him with my life.

In the Bible I’ve been reading…1 Thessalonians

The last book I read was…um…I've been reading multiple books at the same time: Knowing God (J.I. Packer), I Kissed Dating Goodbye (Josh Harris), Beyond Belief to Conviction (Josh McDowell)

A verse that has been particularly special to me is…there are always different ones at different times in my life, but one that has continued to be a favorite is John 14:6   because…it so clearly states that Jesus is truth, life, and the way to God which demonstrates to me that the truth is knowable.

Something people don’t commonly know about me is…I was a cheerleader at Liberty University for the one year that I was enrolled…it's because I like to throw people.
