Senior Pastor Mike Hoffman

I have been the Pastor of Avondale Bible Church since July 1995. My wife, Heidi and I were married July 1st, 1988 and we have made our home here in Woodinville along with our three sons.  I graduated from Western Conservative Baptist Seminary, Portland, Oregon with a Masters Degree in  Christian Education.  I also hold a B.S. of Business Administration from Western Baptist College, Salem, Oregon where I majored in Bible and Theology.  I was raised as a PK (Pastor’s Kid) and my three brothers also became pastors. Besides preaching, I like to garden and tend to my animals on our little farm here in Woodinville.

My favorite Bible character other than Jesus is…Paul    because…he impresses me with his willingness to please God in courageous leadership. (Gal 1:10)

When I order coffee I like a…double tall soy, sugar free

Some bands I really like are…oldies like Petra and Sweet Comfort Band

The most important lesson I learned from my parents was… My dad was not only my father, he was also my pastor; and now he is my mentor.  I couldn't possibly narrow it down to one lesson. My mom taught me how to stand strong.  We used to go on 1200 mile bike trips for vacation.  I was always impressed with her strength as a woman and now I understand her strength as a pastor's wife even more.

In the Bible I’ve been reading…Proverbs.  I like to share it with my kids at dinner.  It is fun to simply go back and forth in the book.

The last book I read was…Fools Gold? Discerning Truth in an Age of Error by John MacArthur.  Next, I'll be reading Patrick McManus.

A verse that has been particularly special to me is…Gal 6:9  because…I love John 10:10 as a life verse.  It helps me understand all that God desires for me, but Gal 6 has carried me for a long time.  God is the rewarder to those that sow to the spirit.

Something people don’t commonly know about me is…that I like to dive off waterfalls whenever I get a chance and that I once dove out of an airplane at 3000 feet.
